RF Optimisation Engineer - UK based - Permanent Role

Ref:: (#1054-MH1036)
Location: UK - Anywhere - Europe - EU Countries
Rate: N/A (Permanent) + Flexible
My client is looking for an RF Engineer with experience optimizing and designing UMTS, GSM or LTE networks. The right candidate will have at least 4-5 years+ experience in the design and optimisation of radio networks.

The candidate will be required to help support the deployment and delivery of my clients products in a customer facing environment and will have a real get up and go attitude. The role does require an extensive practical understanding of UMTS / GSM network optimisation and be able to map how my clients products can troubleshoot network issues. Therefore a candidate with experience in troubleshooting issues such as accessibility, mobility or retainability failures, relate them to radio conditions or parameter settings and suggest appropriate resolution actions is a must.

Detailed knowledge of vendor infrastructure e.g. Ericsson, Samsung, ALU or NSN is considered to be a bonus specifically GPEH or RPMO in E///, IOS traces . Knowledge of LTE planning and early optimization is a distinct advantage

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate this experience through examples spent working with customers on live projects.

The role will call for extensive short term travel but the candidate may also be required to spend 3+ months on a customer site working to deliver a project. Travel will be for the most part across Europe but the client would prefer someone happy to also work in the Americas / APAC (for example they have a lot happening in Latin America at the moment).

The position of Subject Matter Expert will report to the regional Professional Services Director.

Characteristics
1) At least 5 years’ experience of Network Planning and Optimisation of 3G and 2G networks
2) Ability to troubleshoot to the route-cause of an RF issue such as dropped or blocked calls
3) A detailed knowledge of the mechanisms within Radio Access Networks including for example Inter-Frequency/Inter-RAT handovers and have the ability to optimize neighbor relationships to prevent dropped calls
4) Understanding of RRC, NBAP and RANAP protocol stacks and parameters appropriate to UMTS network optimization
5) Knowledge of vendor OSS e.g. Ericsson, NSN, Huawei considered a bonus
6) Experience with Layer 3 message analysis
7) Familiarity with common industry products e.g. Aircom Asset, Forsk Atoll, Actix Drive Test Post Processing, Tektronix Geoprobe etc.
8) Excellent customer facing skills and a team player who can clearly articulate to customers the results of a study they have performed.
9) Willingness to travel internationally and be prepared to spend 3+ months on customer site delivering projects if required
10) EU Passport Holders only - international travel required.
