Job description :

The Field test engineer will provide consulting services to wireless device vendors and operators for a variety of US and Mexico projects.

Responsibilities include :

•

To provide quality project deliverables under the direction of senior device staff.
• Testing handsets for CS/PS functionality, mobility management, supplementary
services, MMS, SMS, WAP, JAVA, SIM features, Streaming, Dial-up, etc.
• Reporting defects per project requirement and managing necessary follow up including fix verification, updating defect database and tracking defects through resolution.
• Set-up and utilization of device flashing SW and collecting log files using vendor provided tools and industry tools like QxDM, TEMS and Nemo.
• Minimal analysis of layer 3 results to assist SW developers in ascertaining cause and network conditions of defects.
• Travel for short duration (typically 1 week) to conduct testing on various network infrastructure in the US, Canada and Latin America

Experience required :

•

Desired: experience with the following mobile systems: GSM/GPRS, UMTS, CDMA, TDMA.
• 1 year experience in Device Testing or similar preferred (BSS SW, Wireless Quality Assurance, etc)
• OR 1 year experience in IT with working knowledge of cellular networks.
• Ability to learn new device logging and flashing softwares.
• Good hands on skills with PCs.
• Bachelors of Science in Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, or equivalent.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
• Effective interpersonal communications and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
