Requirements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsibilities
- Architects
and maintains Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite
communications network.
- Designs,
develop, and maintain the hardware used in VSAT network, including
receivers, transmitters, antennas, and the network HUB infrastructure.
- Responsible
for hardware layout, component evaluation, prototype construction, and
testing where applicable to improve VSAT overall performance.
- Prepares
test methods and specifications; analyzes and tests VSAT hardware to
verify performance characteristics and make recommendation as necessary.
- Performs
link analysis and optimization, including effects of propagation medium
and possible interference sources with respect of VSAT communication
architecture.
- Performs
VSAT system/subsystem/component trade studies and analysis support of
Life Cycle Costs, reliability, availability, and maintainability
analysis.
- Interfaces
with VSAT satellite customers and stakeholder to provide recommendation
to improve VSAT net worthiness and capability.
- Conduct/coordinate
site surveys prior to new installation or relocation of existing system.
- Install
and configure the fix antenna and auto tracking VSAT systems at
customer's site.
- Troubleshoot
failure of VSAT link and conduct schedule preventive maintenance as per
customer's contract.
- Monitor
link performance onboard during equipment move and relocate VSAT system,
if necessary.
- Prepare
and test equipments prior to installation.a
- Prepare
chronological report, service report and equipment listing after
completion of each job.
- GSM
knowledge and testing of 2G, 3G, 4G, LTE existing network and support in
streamlining the setup to suit clients need.

minimum of 3 year of very small aperture terminal (VSAT) experience to
include hub/router configuration, network management, and VSAT
telecommunication transport.
- IDirect
experience
- Redhat/Linux
training/experience preferred
- A
thorough understanding of satellite communications and architecture
- Satcom/RF
engineering
- The
ideal candidate should have Cisco router and switch configuration
exposure. (CCNA level knowledge)
- Responsible
for the design, engineering, and all technical coordination with DISA,
as well as all other Government organizations and their vendors
- Good
understanding of VSAT system maintenance, and VSAT site surveys and
installation planning.
- A
thorough knowledge of satellite system HUB services and network
management.
Qualifications: Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's
degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's
degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems,
or related field preferred
- Three
or more years of experience in data, voice or video networks
- Experience
working with local area network systems and technical infrastructure
communication issues
- Experience
working with network systems and networking principles, data, voice or
video
- Experience
working with VSAT service providers
- Preferable
experience with local ISP
