What is a Ferrite Bead?

What is a Ferrite Bead?A ferrite bead, or ferrite choke, is a simple hollow cylinder or bead that is made of ferrite material and that is used in order to suppress or filter the amount of high frequency electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise found in electronic circuits. Ferrite is a black semi-magnetic substance that is shaped like a cylinder and that consists of iron oxide along with a mixture of other metals. Ferrites are encased in rubber or plastic material to protect and keep the ferrite bead in place.

Types of Ferrite Beads
There are several different kinds of ferrite beads. At Future Electronics we stock many of the most common types categorized by maximum DCresistance, case size / dimension, rated current, impedance, operating temperature range and packaging type. The parametric filters
The most common sizes for impedance are 120 Ω, 220 Ω, 600 Ω and 1kΩ. We also carry ferrite beads with impedance up to 2.7 kΩ. The rated current can be between 0.2 mA and 4000 A, with most ferrite beads having a rated current of 200 mA or 500 mA.
ferrite beads from several manufacturers that can be used as a ferrite bead for a cell phone, ferrite bead for USB or ferrite bead for a headset, among other uses. Simply choose from the ferrite bead technical attributes below

Applications for Ferrite Beads:
Ferrite beads can be used for the removal of power line noises in cellular phones, PCs, TV tuners, audio players, DVDs, game machines, digital photo frames and several other electronic circuits.
Choosing the Right Ferrite Bead:
When you are looking for the right ferrite beads, you can filter the results by various attributes with by Maximum DC Resistance (1 mΩ, 50 mΩ, 100 mΩ, …), Rated Current (0.2 mA, 200 mA, 500 mA,…) and Impedance (from 1 Ω to 2.7 kΩ). You will be able to find the right ferrite bead for USB, ferrite bead for a cell phone or ferrite bead for a headset.
